A New Shore

A new awakening is evolving in our world today. It is one of spiritual unity. The transformation has been underway for several years but it is about to increase at an exponential rate. Love is the frequency of this awakening.

Love has brought me to a new shore. And, when things change in your life, you must be flexible and willing to reflect those changes. “For there is no greater gift than that of love.” I have been awakened to Love. With that being said, I need to make some changes.

I have blogged about many topics that relate to living a balanced life. The Tree of Life Theory, which this blog is based upon, is about growth, flexibility, balance, love, fruitful relationships, higher consciousness and Life, itself. It is about being aware, making healthy choices, thinking positively, helping each other and most importantly connecting to the Creator for LIFE.

This will be my final blog. I made a commitment to myself to do this for one year. However, that commitment is actually holding me back from living free. This is the opposite of what I believe. Recognizing the need to make the change and taking the steps to implement that change is what I remind all of you to do. Today, my lesson is to take my own advice.

Blue

Blue is the color of the sky, the veil of the Divine and the reflected waters of life.

It is the shimmer of light in a crystal, the spark in a lamp and the glow in your soul.

Don’t let someone take your blue light away. The sadness associated with blue is not in the color but the lack of it in our lives.

The Fall

One of the most difficult things to do is look inside oneself for the truth. Although this is a difficult task to do, it is vital for inner balance. Regardless of what we would like to think, most of us have some area of inner harmony that needs work.

We deny or conceal many things in which we are afraid to face about ourself. This happens for many reasons. One is cultural reinforcement. It is challenging to see our mistakes, if everywhere we look, people are doing the same thing.

When we slow down, focus and really look at how we act, what we find is that frequently, we are living up to someone else's expectations or ideals for HOW we should live.

Be brave and look inside. What do you want? Are you who you want to be? If not, take a plunge in a cleansing pool and wash away what you don't like. The results may shock you!

Lake of Fire

The Divine created everything perfect and balanced. In the beginning, there was not decay or death. A mother does not create a child to watch it die. She creates life in order to nurture that life as it grows into maturity. This process is one of love.

When we “fall from grace,” we are actually moving away from the love of the life-giver, our mother. This move away from the light of love throws us into the chaos of the flames of life, unprotected and unprepared for the events to come.

When we choose to separate, balance is broken. We begin to decay, to age and to die. This was not what the Divine, the Goddess of Creation meant to have happen. The division of all things co-creates death. Only through unity in love will the chaos stop and balance be resurrected.

Jump for Joy

No, the screen is not sideways, your vision is fine and yes, I took the photo like this on purpose!


We all need to remember that life is supposed to be fun! We were created to celebrate our life, not work ourselves to death. We need to remember (like my two sons), to leap over the edge, jump in the sand and roll down the hill with fervor. We need more play time.

However you are able to express your joy for life, Do it! Paint a picture, attend a dance, gather with friends for a picnic, play ball outside, sing in your church choir, go to a library reading, volunteer at a local charity, ride your bike, serve the needy and do it all with great joy in your heart!

Little Angels

Steve, a friend of mine, gave me a list of- Angels Explained by Children. I hope these put a smile on your face. They sure did mine. Thank you, Steve!


1) I only know the names of two angels, Hark and Harold. –Gregory, 5 yrs.

2) Everybody’s got it all wrong. Angels don’t wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it. –Olive, 9 yrs.

3) It’s not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to Heaven and then there’s till the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to war those angel clothes. –Matthew, 9

4) My guardian angel helps me with math but he’s not much good for science. –Henry, 8

Holy Communication

There is a simple prayer in the Christian Bible located in I Chronicles 4: 10. It is called “The Prayer of Jabez.” Although I believe that any type of communication with the Divine is wonderful, this little prayer has proven to add a special positive punch to those people’s lives that I have shared it with.


The Prayer of Jabez

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,

Oh that You would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your hand always be with me,
and that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain.”

So God granted him what he requested. I Chronicles 4: 10

I share this with you for only one reason. Prayer is our bridge to the Most Glorious Creator. If you have no idea where to begin praying, this little prayer may help show you the light. If you have prayers that you prefer, may this blog remind you not to forget Goddess/God in your life.

Steam Roller

Sometimes, I feel as though I am on a long train ride, being driven to some distant destination without being in control of how fast I go or when I will arrive. Do you ever feel that way? It can seem quite scary.


However, I have learned that I hold the key to my future. The unknown future before me becomes a reflection of what I perceive it to be. If I hold onto the fear – my future steps are hesitate, untrusting and heavy. By letting go and allowing faith to guide my actions, faith in an All-powerful, Loving Goddess/God, - my future steps are secure, confident and light.

Additionally, the resultant future shows me exactly what I have done. If the outcome is desirous and healthy….I followed my faith for what the Divine had in store. If the fruits of my effort were from fear….the chaos, jumble and headaches of my actions are now another reality to deal with.

Lesson learned.

Logos and Eros

Do you remember when the book, “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus” by John Gray was released? People flocked to the bookstores to ravish the pages in an attempt to bridge some semblance of understanding about the opposite sex.

It seems as though our modern mystification leading to confusion about the opposite sex has been mirrored throughout the ages. Plato tried to polish the meaning of Eros in his work ‘Symposium.’ Plato said that ‘Eros seeks wisdom and leads the soul to happiness.’

Sigmund Freud related the word to libido, sexual energy. He said that “love is the life instinct innate to all humans. It is the desire to create life.”

In Margaret Starbird’s book, “The Woman with the Alabaster Jar,” she associates the word Eros as the balanced counterpart to Logos. “The Eros is symbolic of the feminine, love, free-thinking, creativeness, relatedness,” not to mention nurturing, passionate and sensual. “The Logos is symbolic of masculine, reason, law, order, discipline and self-restraint,” not to mention knowledge, divine and the word.

When we use common sense and look at our world around us, we see balance in every aspect of creation. The Creator did not randomly shape the universe on a whim. I believe that creation was formed out of the chaos of the void/darkness. In so doing, law organized the order of manifestion - sacred geometry was the building blocks of dividing the darkness into light. The Logos or law was invented.

Furthermore, logos or law without taking into consideration the balanced concept of eros, communal happiness is too rigid to last. Just as order (masculine logos) is important, without the balanced aspect of relatedness (feminine aspect), it becomes authoritative, not balanced.

The Judeo-Christian Bible, specifically in the Christian New Testament, the writers refers to Jesus as the bridegroom countless times. Is any reasonable (mascuine), free-thinking (feminine) person really supposed to buy into the doctrine of a church, a building being the bride of Jesus? Please pause and think!

Christianity, for whatever reason, omitted the bride (equal and balanced partner of Jesus) from its teachings. This omission, coupled with translation of the Bible only being allowed by the church in medieval times and forward, has led to the distorted and damaged view of the feminine, prevalent in almost every culture today.

The only way to heal the damage done is to balance it. One basic premise that I hold in psychological circles is that ‘anything innate in the human psyche that is denied, becomes unhealthy.’ The restoration of the feminine as an equal, to the masculine is the Light of the coming Age.

Peaceful Retreat

Did you take time out this week to rest? I am talking about the kind of relaxation where you are not interrupted by phones, kids, tv, neighbors and family. If not, why not?

The way many of us run around trying to live our lives, we are in desperate need for rest. Many of the underlying factors to stress, indigestion, heart problems and even emotional dis-ease is rooted in the fact that we are not sleeping at night or stopping during the day to rest. Studies have shown that people who take an afternoon nap……live longer and healthier lives!

Royal Glory

The color red is very symbolic. From ancient times to present day, the color red is one of intense emotion. A few common associations with the color red is: passion, love, courage, loyalty, fire, sacrifice, beauty, honor, danger and happiness.

Red is the tradition color of the bridal dress in India. In Japan, red is symbolic of a heroic figure. In Central Africa, some warriors rub themselves in red as a symbol of life and health. In America, a red car has a higher percentage of getting in an accident, than any other color of vehicle. As you can see the range of symbolic meaning, suggested by the color red spans cultural association and era limitations.

I believe this is a Red Salvia.  I am sure you have seen this flowering plant, also known as Scarlet Sage in yards and gardens throughout many areas of North America. It is a pretty annual that brightens any patio, garden or backyard enclosure.

Golden Aura

An alchemist is a medieval chemical scientist and philosopher. The best-known goals of the alchemists were the transmutation of common metals into gold or silver; the creation of a "panacea", or the elixir of life, a remedy that, it was supposed, would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely; and the discovery of a universal solvent. This practice was as much philosophical and spiritual, as it was a scientific discipline.

Some Hermetic schools argue that the transformation of lead into gold is equivalent to the transmutation of the physical body into gold, with the goal of attaining immortality. This is described as Internal Alchemy.

Cultures from around the globe have sought this practice for over 2,500 years. Today it is incorporated into religious, metaphysical and cultural interpretation.

Games People Play

So often we become consumed with the trivial aspects of our life that we forget that there ARE other people out there holding a greater need than we have. It is hard to understand sometimes, but true. Moments when I have been really tired, I am presented with another person in need or situation that my assistance in helping them supersedes my current fatigue.
Again, an example arises when I am so hungry that food is my focused thought. However, a calling to help another reminds me that I am not starving and my bodily desire can be prolonged a little longer.

These are tough lessons when my culture has reinforced just how special “I am” as an individual, above all others.

Dew

Beaded upon the fine hairs of a leaf,
The dew drops remaining after a light rain,

Chilly Outside

Do you ever feel like you are being watched? Old Man Winter is right around the corner. I saw this imprint on the ground and knew immediately that I had to use it in the blog.

The first snow has fallen in the High Colorado Rockies and skiers are beginning to prepare for the winter slopes of powdered-speed and downhill excitement. For those living in more southern regions, lately, you have had the delight of the white dustings of a winter wonderland, too.

It is time to put away the lawn furniture, wrap the pipes, seal the windows, bring down the snow shovel and stock-up on de-icer! The air is cooling and ‘Ol Man Winter is approaching from the north.

Country Living

There is an attitude that permeates the actions of those living in rural America. It is a propensity towards allowing nature to operate at its rhythmic pace. Emergencies are reserved for actual life & death situations. Neighbors are often miles apart but close at heart. An appreciation for the bounty of the land is in all that they do.

As a country girl, the times that I lived in the city were unsettling to my inherent comfort of a slower pace and natural surroundings. I love to visit the city and take in the conveniences that it offers in the form of entertainment, bright lights and action but at the end of the day, where I lay my head to rest is under the twinkling stars, enveloped by fresh mountain air, expansive meadows and forests of large trees and diverse foliage.

I find a sense of peace in the energy of the countryside that radiates the harmony and balance of Mother Earth. Where ever you find peace, may it saturate your life with goodness and expand to include all that you do.

Tar and Feathered......Not.

My Beloved, You Are Loved! My Beloved, You Are Loved! My Beloved, You Are Loved!

As you read the above line slowly and deliberately, I want you to know that this is the most important Universal Truth. Our life is a covenant of the Creator to let us know that we are loved. Nothing else takes precedence over this promise.

While some religious doctrine, associate the Holy Grail to that of an object like a cup, plate or cauldron, the true sacred vessel is the divine human! We do not need to search the depths of the dirt or the waters of the sea for the most prized container of the Divine. We only need to look in the mirror and accept the beauty and simplicity of the original covenant.

Reaching Out

I have been inspired by so many people in my life. Recently, I talked to some homeless folks living by a bathroom in the park. A man was laying down sleeping. Another couple was huddled together keeping warm, while a lady with one leg, in a wheel chair took the position of guardian over them. She had a rather intimidating dog on a leash with her.

I approached the group on my way past the bathroom. I asked if they were alright and if they needed anything. This lady lit up as I approached her. I inquired as to the friendliness of the dog, too. :) She was so sweet. She told me that the dog was friendly, which I quickly discovered as he nuzzled up for attention. The kind woman informed me that they were all fine.

As I left her encampment, I offered a blessing for their protection. She responded by telling me that she loved me. Wow, what a beautiful surprise! So many people fear and ridicule the homeless and in one moment, I was gifted a strangers love, simply by stopping in my tracks to help another.

Special Function

Each one of us has been created for a very special purpose. Not only do we walk embraced by the loving arms of our Mother, when we open to her wisdom, we walk a unique path all our own.


We are granted so many gifts and may share certain parts of our journey with others. We may bond with friends in our life that share in our laughter. We may be born into a family unit that encourages our development. We may choose a profession that allows us to use our gifts and talents to the benefit of others.

Nevertheless, we are like this silo. We have been created special, to stand out from the rest and welcome the unlimited substance of the Divine into our being.

On the Brink

(Green Acres theme song) “California is the place to be. Mountain air the life for me. Ocean spreading out so far and wide. Keep San Francisco just give me that countryside.”

I have flown over, stopped in and briefly traveled through the state of California in my life. However, I have never explored or held any close association with the state other than what the media portrays about Hollywood and the like.

Recently, I made the decision to do more traveling. So, here I am six states later, touring the large and stunning state of California. The very first day of my entry across the border brought me to this amazing California Condor. He was perched on a log in a riverbed. Shortly after my arrival to his river edge, he flew to this branch in the tree.

Condors are fascinating birds.

Fast facts:a.) The largest flying bird in North America, b.) The most endangered bird. C.) Sacred to the Chumash people.

Around the Bend

This type of road always reminds me to practice flexibility.

Example: Recently, I have been doing some traveling. After a couple of days of ‘sponge-bathing’ I was feeling more than ready for a nice hot shower. In fact, the only thing that I wanted on this particular day was to take a shower. My focus (justified by my drive for cleanliness) was only on getting a shower. I did not take into consideration anyone else’s feelings or desires for that day.

The Goddess decided to teach me a valuable lesson. Upon arriving at the facility where we would be able to shower, the women’s area was closed for the morning! Once again, I was reminded of the power of the ego and wanting something MY WAY. I wanted, I needed, I desired, I was going to have a shower……Wrong!

The rest of the day’s activities precluded me from standing under the refreshing, cleansing stream of a hot shower. I humbly resorted to another sponge-bath, fully aware of my error in selfishness and the power of the ego.

Halls of Knowledge

Education is very important. I do not live by the rule that everyone should go to college. However, I do feel that educating oneself is vital to our human development.

There are a variety of ways to gain knowledge. Classes of interest can be found online, advertised in a local shop and spread by word-of-mouth. A workshop provides short and intense, focused-based learning environments. Libraries share access to tons of information and it is all free. Of course, experience is one of the best teachers, too.

Take time to expand your base of knowledge by reading a book, attending a workshop or visiting the library. You may be surprised at the amount of information that you don’t know.

Streams of Desire

We have the ability to create, change, impact and handle all the situations that arise in our daily experiences. When we live by our belief in a higher power, it does not give us the right to excuse certain ‘less han desirable’ characteristics about ourselves. Faith is not a scapegoat for one’s lack of knowledge. Faith is not a weapon to use over another. Faith is not partial to one’s human limitations.

Faith is the belief in the natural flow to our existence. Faith is acknowledging that we are held and protected in our Creators womb. And, faith is accepting all life for what it is.

“Our desires move us along our journey but it is our faith that brings us to a soft landing.” tc

At the Center of It All

I have touched upon different and influential philosophies that each culture embraces and uses to direct their life experience. Regardless of which ideology you choose to adopt, there are markers along the way that show you the position of your knowledge, skills, understanding and/or progress of growth.


Each one of us is on the same journey. Each one of us is presented with challenges or tests to recognize and prevail over. Each one of us is working to fulfill our “soul’s contract” towards reunification with the Divine.

The levels for which we must pass through are all the same. But, the method or event that moves us through those levels is contingent upon the lessons that our soul/spirit must learn and our success in growing beyond that challenge. Jesus referred to this as ‘The Way.’ Buddha called this the Eight Fold Path. Abraham Maslow outlined this process as the pyramid towards self-actualization (enlightenment), his Heirarchy of Needs. Many ancient cultures refer to these markers as ‘Stages of Initiation.’ Regardless of what you call it, each stage signifies advancement on the physical and spiritual (Earthly and Divine) plane.

Let me share an example to help clarify this point.

Based upon my spirit’s movement, let’s say that I need to learn to balance discernment. People and situations will continue to manifest in my life that offer me the option to judge a situation appropriately and select the ‘right action.’ Oftentimes, people choose answers or avenues that fit their comfort level in dealing or not dealing with the situation. Nonetheless, the ‘right action’ may be contrary to their comfort level and demand a more definitive solution.

Example: Barbara does not like to deal with angry people. She is shy and insecure with her place in the world. In order for Barbara to grow beyond her shyness and insecurities, people and situations will arise in her life to challenge that aspect of herself. She may have a sibling that always ‘pushes her buttons.’ She may be ‘taken advantage of’ at work. She may encounter scenarios in the park, on her street or with friends, wherein she has the opportunity to speak up and exercise confidence and assertiveness. When Barbara acts appropriately and overcomes this hurdle, she will advance to the next level of learning.

Sometimes, it takes a person (spirit) an entire lifespan to pass one test!

Lincoln Highway

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. At the foot of this memorial in Wyoming, the plaque reads, “We must think anew and act anew.”


What an inspiring quote to come upon in my Western travels. “Think anew and act anew…………”

What does that mean? Well, I began to take a glimpse of my life and could see that major changes occurred in my life when I followed this theory. Thinking anew meant that I had to step out of the box of conditioned and expected life routines in order to advance on my journey. This practice was met by resistance from my family and friends questioning my motives for such seemingly ‘radical’ life choices. Additionally, I had to confront and overcome the learned behaviors that had once formed the principal ideals that shaped my understanding of life.

Acting anew meant that I had to brave enough to ‘walk the talk.’ It is one thing for people to espouse philosophies, ideas, practices, theories and systems. It is another thing to LIVE THEM. When I began acting anew, I felt liberated, guided, free, loved, protected and joyful at the simplicity of how life ought to be lived.

Duality United

I love to capture reflection photos such as this one. Here, I experimented by looking into the water and snapping the photo upside down. I moved to portray different textures and I sat and waited for the sun to rise in order to add a variety of lighting to the scene.


All of my playing with the camera amounted to one realization.

This particular landscape lent credence to my philosophy of “regardless how you look at the people and things around us, we are all a mirror of the same all encompassing Divine Being.” The beauty of creation is ever-present to remind us of our eternal bond and interdependence on each other. We need nature to supply our food and water and we need each other to share in the experience of life.

Nothing fruitful can be gained by going it alone. Our reflection will always be looking back at us through the eyes of the Creator, herself. The drive for independence is a long solo journey into death. But the drive for harmonious interdependence is the beginning of eternal life.

“Duality united is the balancing of all polarities into perfect oneness.” tc

Salt of the Earth

I was asked once how I would describe eternity. This concept alone is hard to fathom but here is my humble attempt to explain how I comprehend such an immense belief of space and time.

I am standing on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. The lake that used to fill this area was once comparable to that of Lake Michigan. The salt flats now cover an area of approximately 44,000 acres. In some places the salt has reached a depth of 6 feet thick. There is more salt (up to 25% more pounds per hundred) in Salt Lake than in the oceans of the world. Almost 4.5 million tons of salt was removed and processed in 2000. Astonishing facts to learn!

What does this have to do with eternity?

If you take one grain of salt and use it as an example of your life span, Eternity is all the salt of the earth!

Jesus was quoted as saying “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5: 13-14) Jesus used this metaphor to teach the people how special and wonderful their life could be.

Where am I?

Can you guess which state this photo was taken in? Let me give you a couple of clues:


Was once known for having the largest dam in the world.


Is billed as being the “Entertainment Capital of the World.


Has one of the premier skiing destinations in the world.

Did you guess Nevada? This photo was taken near River Ranch, Nevada in the northern area of the state, along the California Trail Highway. I had never traveled through this area before and found it to be surprisingly beautiful compared to the more rough and rugged regions in the southern part of the state.

It brought to mind the ‘ol saying of “don’t judge a book by its cover.” When we make assumptions about people and places, without taking the time to educate ourselves, we usually discover, to our dismay, that we are incorrect. Most people will associate the state of Nevada as the the city of Las Vegas. However, there is a lot more to Nevada then the bright lights of “Sin City.”

Divine Feminine

I have been introducing the Divine Feminine in the last few postings. I find it so interesting that our worldly culture over the past 4000 years or so has managed to suppress the representation of the feminine in many religious structures, ethnic groups, educational positions , family balance and basically in every avenue of life, unless the feminine is placed in a subservient position to the dominant male figure-head.

Kwan Yin, Diana and Mary Magdalene are just a few of the powerful feminine forces in recent history that have taken a back-seat to Male Dominion. Is it any wonder why the world is in such chaos? After all, the foundation of balance and harmony at the core of creation between male and female is completely out of whack with what the creator had intended.

Thinking for just a moment about the creator, I have found it thought provoking to take a Male God, Male Son and Male Spirit as the representation of the creative forces of the universe. Common sense tells all of us that it is the FEMININE energies that Create life. Ask any mother who created, nurtured, cared for and bore a child. How can Male dominion, male figure-heads and male energy create anything natural? Simply……it cannot.

The creative energies and forces in the entire universe are feminine! God is actually Goddess.  This is not to take away from the male force in any way. In fact, the rebalancing of the male/female energies is exactly what our world, both physical and spiritual is working towards. Patriarchal dominion and the excessive male force in our world has brought us to this readjustment period. Instead of perceiving the transition as a loss to the 'male ego,' the rebalancing of the feminine should be celebrated as love and light for ALL.

Saved

I have often questioned the wisdom of religion. Do they have it right? Why are there so many contradictions within the teachings? Christianity on a whole postulates that we are all sinners. I ask you….for a divine creator to produce the abundance of beauty and diverse life-forms as we witness today, truly… what is sin?

After much thought and many discussions with those wiser than myself, I have come to accept that “TO DIE” is the only sin of the created. Moses (of the Christian Bible) brought down two tablets from Mount Sinai containing writings presented by His God. Do we really know if these were to be classified as the 10 Commandments of life or could it be that these 10 statements were actually descriptions of what characterizes the Divine Creator?

“Thou shall not kill”

Instead of this being a dictated command, could we possibly have misunderstood the Divine’s teaching to be “I will not kill you?”

“Thou shall not have other God’s before me.”

Instead of this command reading as a jealous and possessive God, is it possible to interpret this statement as “You do not need any other Gods but me?”

“Thou shall keep holy the Sabbath”

Instead of a creator demanding that its people attend church, synagogue, temple or other religious gathering, is it possible that the Divine wanted us to remember to take a day and rest from our work? To take a day off and reflect upon the goodness that has been granted to us?

And one final review:

“Honor your Mother and Father.”

Understanding that our mothers and fathers are our earthly creators, is it possible that the Divine was trying to communicate the fact that we are born from the Light of God/Goddess and that our spirit originated from the Mother/Father figure of the Most High?

This may seem like a foreign interpretation of the ‘Law of the Land.’ However, this has only been the law for less than 5000 years of history. Prior to this Judeo/Christian teaching, the law was that of harmony, balance and life through the Great Mother/ Goddess.

Turn the Page

I have recently turned a new page in my life. I have been walking a very long spiritual journey. Over the last few weeks and months, my journey has brought me to new people, through challenging moments, introduced me to profound and unimaginable experiences and delivered me to a new shore with a fresh and salubrious perspective on what our human experience is all about.

Our individual connection to the Divine Creator can only be fully realized through our heightened state of peak consciousness. From the darkest recesses of our soul, over the intense wall of human fear and brought to light on the wings of love will the earthly side of human-nature break the code of the divine and unite for eternal life.

The true sense of freedom that we all seek can only granted by the Goddess of Creation. She is the only One with the power to liberate the soul and bring us to the wisdom of the ages.

Does God/Goddess Exist?

You know that excitement you feel deep inside, when something you have worked hard at is about to be completed?

You know that relief and happiness you feel deep inside, when a loved one returns from a danger zone?

You know that profound love you feel deep inside, when you are reunited with your heart’s partner in life?

You know that wispy, carefree feeling you feel deep inside, when everything seems right in the world?

You know that encompassing warmth that you feel deep inside when the grief is too much handle?

You know that tear gently rolling over your cheek when the joy in your being is so intense that you are laughing and crying at the same time?

You know that ache and yearning for the absolute truth of your life that you feel deep inside when the moments are quiet?

Does God/Goddess exist? Maybe the question ought to be, why can’t you see and feel the Light of the Divine in All that exists?

The Spirit of It

A friend of mine recently posted her viewpoint on Facebook about a church congregation in Anaheim, CA., that had the opportunity to tattoo the church logo, (a heart inside a four-quarter circle) on their forearms. This act was offered during service and was to represent each person’s commitment to the church and to God. My friend stated that "tattoos were for pagans" and asked people to "separate themselves."

She received a number of responses, both positive and negative. While I support each person’s prerogative to express them self, freely and openly, it is important to differentiate between ‘law and personal preference.” Many responses to her entry quoted Christian scripture against tattooing the body. One was: Leviticus 19:28 which says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

I think that like many things taken literally in the Bible, modern understanding of it is limited and incomplete. If we were to remember the 'spirit of the message,' which I feel addresses doing no harm to your body on purpose, then, there is no judgment of right or wrong. Christianity only holds one piece to the puzzle of the Divine and dictatorship never lasts.

Additionally, my friend is the wife of a minister. The fact that she used the terminology of “pagan,” as further demeaning anyone who is of a different religious background than herself, is more disturbing than a poor judgment call on body art. How is this any different than the Muslim teaching of “hating infadels," anyone who is different than they are?

A Point To Everything

Undeniable Fact – We are bound by laws; given our current understanding of the law: Law of Cosmic Order, Mathematics, Physics, Harmony of the Spheres, Gravity, etc. These are scientific Truths that we have come to acknowledge.

When we look at our Personal Truths, they are no different. They are concepts about our life that we have come to accept. How do we know what they are? The spiritual and religious doctrine have done a fair job of presenting the basics: Do not lie, cheat, steal, yearn for what is not yours, be kind, faithful, honest, etc. These motifs have been established to guide one towards a more loving and fruitful life. Yours may be slightly different but they are THE guiding beliefs that shape and mold how you think and act.

When we establish Truths for ourselves, it is important to base those Truths in Love. What I mean is that if my Truth is that I am a victim of every circumstance, then, that is not a truth about life. It is a fear-based idea, which only serves to justify blocking my ability to growth in my life. Now, it may seem as if certain things happen to you based upon this theme. However, since we create our reality, one has actually perpetuated their own victimization, by their suspicion of everyone being out to get them, instead of taking responsibility for their experiences.

Another example, I blogged about back in February (19th – A Warped Perspective) is about a person’s number one rule being that of “Trust No One.” These types of Truths, Rules, Personal Mottos are isolating, negative, restrictive and based entirely upon fear. They serve to hinder, impede, delay and suppress the person from growth in their life. The only Truth being revealed here is individual worry, anxiety, loneliness and FEAR.

Full Circle

I believe, that as Spirit Beings in a physical body, the journey that our soul takes can be followed along the same path as the sun. This, of course, is similar to the horoscope signs of the zodiac or the path of the ecliptical.

Ancient cultures referred to this path as the Milky Way or the Path of the Soul The constellations are created star images that help guide one along their path. By opening to and learning the mythological themes to the constellations, one is able to mark their soul’s journey, above, as they walk the physical journey, below.

This journey repeats itself over and over, like the Ouroborus; the ancient symbol of the serpent swallowing its own tail, forming a circle. The Ouroborus is often described as representing the eternal return of life, renewing itself with each cycle of death.

When we learn The Way and do The Work, we harmonize the energy of our spirit. This releases us from the cycle of rebirth, which some Eastern religions hold as a truth. Shades of Change

When we face difficulties in our life, it is easy to get sucked into the muck of the problem. Catastrophic health issues, unexpected emergencies, long-term elderly care responsibilities and family changes, all create stress and zap energy from our seemingly, limited ready-reserve.
Next, we are bombarded daily by Internet ads that say “Have a good day.” Family members tell us to do things like “Cheer up.” And then there are people like me, who remind you “How great life is.”

However, when we encounter challenging moments, it is not always easy to see the lighter side of life. In fact, the longer the ordeal lasts, the less apt we are to recover fully from it, and/or regain our previous energy and enthusiasm about life.

Don’t Despair. Frequently, the biggest barrier to any type of recovery is our ATTITUDE. Do you want to get better? Can you make time for yourself? Are you going to allow this set-back to ruin your entire future? No, no, no, no and no!

Here a few simple guidelines to follow to help you get back on your feet after an extended absence from mainstream, everyday activities.

Steps to growth/change:

1. Pick yourself up and decide to make a change.

2. Figure out what you want and come up with a plan to ahieve it.

3. Take action, nothing happens by just thinking about it. You must act.

4. Continuously monitor your progress and make any changes that are necessary to keep you moving forward.

5. Be patient with yourself and reward the small achievements. Nothing happens overnight in any recovery or healing circumstance.

Everything takes time. Change is gradual. There are steps that can aid your desired outcome. Generally, you must begin with baby steps and as you make progress the strides become longer and higher. The key is to keep working at it. If you try to move ahead by leaps and bounds, oftentimes, you will miss something along the way.

Divine Union

A friend of mine showed me a 'mobius band' the other day. I had never seen one before nor did I know anything about them. A mobius is an interesting shape. It is a surface that has two sides but there is only one boundary component. You can make a mobius ban by taking a strip of paper and give it a half twist. Then, tape the two ends together. If you were to draw a line around the band, (start at any given point and trace a line back to the original starting point) you would negotiate across both sides without ever crossing an edge. Try it.

For the blog, a mobius correlates to my theory about people. We are made up of Earthly and Divine sides. That is to say that we are both Physical and Spiritual Beings. The earthly side contains our physical and emotional aspects. The divine side consists of our mental and spiritual aspects. When we combine the two aspects, we become One, integrated and whole energy being. When balanced, the energy of our body flows like that of a mobius, twisting, turning and connecting each part as one, all-encompassing unit. Tiny Treasure

I always enjoy these tiny, little lion-face monkeys. They are so rambunctious and playful. This mother ran across the ropes at lightning speed, while her youngsters climbed all over their indoor playground. What natural entertainers.

Zoo Week

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited by a friend to go to the zoo. We had a fun morning wondering around laughing and snapping photos of all the exotic and more common ‘wildlife.’

Grounding Required

Recently, I took an important exam. The results of this test held some significance due to the fact that passing the exam could highly influence my career. I was quite confident going into the testing area.  I completed the exam within the designated timeframe.

Upon finishing the test, I was quite certain that I had done well. With a little extra spring-in-my-step, I drove to my Aunt and Uncle’s house to share the good news. With both in attendance, listening to my recap of the examination, my Aunt sensed my confidence and asked if I had Aced the exam? Still feeling a bit puffed up by my belief in doing well on the test, I proudly said, “Why, yes, I believe I did.” Without missing a beat, my Aunt responded,” Oh, simple was it?”

After picking my jaw up off the floor and standing there totally dumbfounded, we all broke into belly-jiggling laughter! My Aunt gave me a big hug and attempted a weak apology through the stuttering and stammering of her explanation of what she had really meant.  This just made all of us laugh even more.

Ascending into Divinity

There are seven states of consciousness that exist within each person. These seven states of consciousness influence a person throughout their whole life. I feel that people gain a healthy mental state, by being aware of and opening to the seven states of human consciousness. They are:

1. Body – awareness of self, responsiveness to environment.

2. Fantasy – dream-like state where creative imagination and make believe mix. Absorbed in this state to the exclusion of full Body consciousness. Ex: Athlete’s flow, child’s play

3. Sleep – archetypal symbols and images create potential in people

4. Dark – state where negative energy thrives. Useful to bring awareness to harmful behavior or express evilness.

5. Induced – wherein an external stimulate such as drugs or alcohol alter a person’s conscious state

6. Meditative – relaxed mental state where a person can reach a deeper opening in their mental capacity that will expand awareness and compassion.

7. Universal – union of the mind with a higher spiritual power and sacred wisdom. The illusionary sense of life is removed and Truth or Enlightenment is fully realized.

These states are not limited to developmental or age-related stages of awareness or consciousness because these states are inherent conscious abilities that are built-in to a person’s mental design. Oftentimes, a child is observed in various states of consciousness that an adult has been conditioned to repress.

The degree within each level of consciousness fluctuates from person to person and from situation to situation. These levels are not static. A person may move into deeper or lighter states of consciousness. Not everyone will experience all seven levels. However, a person may move through one or more levels in a single day.

I feel that each level of consciousness is there to guide a person through the experience of awakening to the richness of life. By opening to these different levels and being present in each one, an individual may move through life more balanced and fulfilled. Love

Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

With all the effort it takes to be patient, kind and undemanding these days, we also have to be aware of being boastful, true and hopeful. Do you find yourself needing to contribute to every story being told? Do you find yourself talking more about yourself, than listening to others? Are you sure that all your needs are met before offering anything to another? Do you secretly keep track of other people’s failures?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to know that this is not love! Love does not ridicule, take or hide. Love is open, compassionate and a gift you give to another. Love is not about what you receive, it is about what you give!
Love is the only thing standing strong when everything else has fallen.

License to Kill

Mother Earth is our home. She has given us pure water to drink, fresh air to breath and rich soil, in which to feed us. Regardless of how much we overuse the land, pollute air and waste the water, she continues to try and purify all of it.

She attempts to discipline the children of earth from time to time by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tidal waves, wind storms and flooding but we just keep on doing what we are doing with little to no regard for the consequences.

Yes, there are consequences! Everything of the earth is organic, perishable material. If you think you can continue to pollute, abuse and overuse the land, then you have permission…..on one condition. When you are able to make soil, produce water and create new air, from scratch, that will take care of billions of people, and maintain the delicate balance of mother nature; then there will be less of a need to be conservative with our limited natural resources!

Fire Inside

I heard this quote the other day and found it interesting to think about.

“When there is a fire some people bring wood, while others bring water.”

When I look back on my life, I can clearly see the times when I brought wood and contributed to the blazing fires around me. On some occasions, I even built the fire and invited others to throw some gasoline on it. Many of these events took place in my youth. I thought I knew so much, was right about most things and was invincible.

Then, life decided to teach me a few lessons. As I matured, I found myself beginning to lay the logs down and I began picking up buckets of water, instead. I discovered that it took a lot of energy to keep certain fires burning and I was becoming busy with other things in my life.

Now, I carry extra water in my truck and put out fires wherever I go. I realize that the benefit of fire is so limited in life and few know how to use fire effectively to accomplish anything in a positive manner, so it is much better to put the fires out, rather than try to manage an already explosive situation.
